Save the Green Belt
With just a fraction of the usual project time available, this project required a functional website within days for an emergency appeal.

The challenge:
When development proposals were put forward to build 600 houses on indispensable green belt land near Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the community quickly rallied round and formed the Save Cotmanhay and Shipley Green Belt campaign group.
Starting on Facebook, the campaign quickly grew to include hundreds of local residents. A website was soon required to enable easy access to important information, documents and links.

The project:
Following an initial meeting with committee members, HeyYou! quickly put together a basic website. The website copy detailed the proposal and the groups’ main objections, as well as information of how to submit a letter of objection. Example objection letters written by committee members were available to download, with additional content to support residents writing their own.
Alongside this, we edited and distributed press releases for the campaign and created a Twitter profile to help build further relationships locally.
The results:
The website quickly became a valuable resource to which residents could easily be directed to find all the information they needed.
Several articles ran in local media outlets, helping to raise the profile of the campaign. This became vital when Covid-19 restrictions made it harder to reach the local community.
